Your Support Enlarges the World for our Students

We’re honoured and excited that you are thinking about supporting St. Peter’s Primary School. Each year, we meet dozens of interesting people from all over the world. We always embrace our visitors with a memorable welcome that usually includes a lot of singing, hand clapping and energetic dancing. We want you to know that you’ve just made some new friends.

Although many of our “in-person” visitors often make a cash donation or bring various items with them for the school, we know that others might prefer to delay their giving until after they return home.

People who are sending money internationally for the first time usually have several concerns:

    • How difficult is the process?
    • Is my transaction secure?
    • How quickly will my money get there?
    • What fees are involved and will they be deducted from my donation?

Sending money to another country has become much easier in the last several years. It’s almost no different from sending money to a friend who lives in another state or province. Often people in another country will receive your donation – in their own currency – in a matter of hours or no more than a couple of days.

Without getting too caught up in the details, we suggest you consider using ONE of the following three methods to send us funds. All options are easy to use and they are VERY secure. The specific fees you are charged will be dependent on the amount you are sending and the daily fluctuations in currency exchange.

Applicable to wire services like Western Union and others.

Advantages

SPEED – Your money can get there usually within 24 hours.

Disadvantages

HIGHER SENDER FEES – dependent on the amount sent & type of transfer
RECEIVER FEES – sometimes there is a small fee charged to recipients to receive the money into their account
MORE RISK – because the transfer happens much faster, it is more difficult to reverse the transaction

To send money by Western Union,
you may need to know:

Full name of RECEIVER (should match their government ID)
Phone Number of RECEIVER
Physical Home Address of RECEIVER (no P.O. Boxes)
RECEIVER’S Local Western Union Office (and maybe its Address)
RECEIVER’S Bank Name and Address sometimes required
RECEIVER’S Bank Account Number sometimes required

If you do your banking online, you probably already have this service available.

Advantages

CHEAPER – generally lower fees & recipients are NOT charged a fee to accept the money into their account
LESS RISK – if your money is sent in error, because of the built in delay, there are ways to reverse the payment

Disadvantages

SLOWER – Your money can sometimes take several days to arrive. But if you are not in a hurry …

To send money through your bank,
you may need to know:

Full name of RECEIVER (should match their government ID)
Phone Number of RECEIVER
Physical Home Address of RECEIVER
(no P.O. Boxes)

RECEIVER’S full Bank Name and Address
RECEIVER Bank’s SWIFT* Code
RECEIVER’S Account Number

*SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication) and BIC (Business Identifier Code) – Often used interchangeably, these are standard format codes to identify banks and financial institutions around the world. SWIFT codes are 11 digits that contain the bank, country, location, and branch code.

Making a donation to our GoFundMe fundraiser is, perhaps, your quickest and most convenient option. You can support us by making a donation with your bank’s debit or credit card.

From every donation, GoFundMe deducts a transaction fee of 2.9% + $0.30. So, if you donated $50.00, GoFundMe would take $1.75 and St. Peter’s Primary School would receive $48.25.
