Introducing Patricia G. from the Netherlands

In our continuing series profiling repeat St. Peter’s Primary School Donors, I am excited to introduce you to Patricia G. from the Netherlands. Patricia and I first met in 2022. I had invited her to join us at our dinner table at the Mutanda Lake Resort which is not far from St. Peter’s Primary School. It was clear from our conversation that evening that her visit to St. Peter’s earlier that day had impacted her tremendously. The short period of time she spent at the school and with the students and staff would stay with her for a very long time. I can vouch for that feeling. [Stephen]

How did you first discover St. Peter´s Primary School?

In September 2022, I took part in an organized trip through Uganda. During an excursion with a private guide, I visited St. Peter’s Primary School. To this day, this remains one of the highlights of my journey. My warm memories of the school, with its many children and wonderful teachers, have truly stolen my heart. I still think back on it regularly, as well as the whole country and its way of life. It moved me in every possible way.

Why did you decide to support the school financially?

I had brought items with me from the Netherlands, such as toys and other supplies, which I left at the school. After returning home, I decided to donate to the school right away, although the first donation was somewhat challenging from a banking perspective. I met Stephen Oliver during our trip, and thanks to the GoFundMe platform he set up, it feels safe, trustworthy, and incredibly valuable to support the school through our donations.

Do you feel you receive good value for your support and feedback from the school?

The overcrowded classrooms and the lack of teaching resources need to be improved. The children deserve a better future. I feel well informed about the steps being taken with our donations, and the thank you messages are so full of love. Our intention should be: help the children.

Thank you Patricia for your loyal and generous commitment to this most worthy cause.
